Dovetail course

dovetail course dovetail course

I have attended David Charlesworth's dovetailing course in England. No matter what your current level is, I'm sure you will pick up very useful knowledge during his courses. I found out a few things. The first and very important lesson David taught me, is the importance of good light. If you have a good quality bench light, you simply see a lot more, if you light your workpiece from different angles (esp. at low rake angles). I invested in an original Anglepoise Radia longreach lamp (discontinued 2010).

The other eye-opener was the deep (about 0.5 mm) gauge lines David makes, resulting in very handy "polished tracks". And of course I have learned to make precise dovetails. Part of the charm of course is being near David and ask him everything you need to know. David's ideas are well founded, his knowledge is profound and he's good company. Don't ask him to many questions simultaneously, that gets him stressed. He's at his best humming a bit and looking at the student's workpieces with a very sharp eye.
